Prevent child abuse awareness

April 30, 2019

Carr Elementary’s front yard in Fulton is a little shinier lately in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each April, Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) America sends out silver-and-blue pinwheels, asking communities to “plant” them as a visual reminder of the beauty and fragility of children. At Carr, The Family Connection FRYSC had each student plant his/her own pinwheel in the front yard. FRYSC coordinator Tracy Pulley spoke to the children about their right to be safe and cared for all year long. Faculty members wore pinwheel pins as a reminder of the month’s focus. The pinwheels were provided by PCA Kentucky with help from WellCare health insurance. Pictured are Carr Elementary students Josh Gilliland and Tyler Webster planting their silver and blue pinwheels in honor or Child Abuse Prevention Month. (Photo submitted)
