SFMS Red Devils now 2-0

The South Fulton Jr. Red Devils kept their season record unblemished, with a 32-16 win against Lake Road.

Coach Jeremy McFarland’s team improved to (2-0), with a come-from-behind effort on their home field.

The Generals crossed the goal line first in the game, when Ben Sharp broke away on a 19 yard run, at the 4:18 mark of the first quarter.

Sharp’s two-point conversion run then gave Lake Road an 8-0 lead.

South Fulton bounced back to take the lead in the second quarter, with touchdowns coming from the run and pass.

At the 4:28 mark, Chandler Harmon put the first points on the scoreboard for the Jr. Red Devils with a one-yard run.

Harmon’s score, along with a two-point conversion run by Blake Rodehaver tied the game at 8-8.

The first lead for coach McFarland’s team came with 17.8 seconds remaining before halftime, when Rodehaver threw a long pass to Conner Allen for a 64-yard touchdown.

Allen also caught the two-point conversion pass for a 16-8 intermission lead.

The Jr. Red Devils came out strong in the third quarter, with Rodehaver scoring on an 11-yard run with 4:23 on the clock.

Allen again converted the two-point conversion for a 24-8 advantage.

Early in the fourth period, Lake Road cut the lead to one score, when Sharp scored a touchdown on a 45-yard run.

The Generals A.J. Brown bolted in for the two-point conversion, and the South Fulton lead was cut to 24-16.

The final score of the game came with 4:35 remaining, when Harmon crossed paydirt for the second time.

The 8th grade running back scored from three-yards out, with Dane Cirkles adding the two-point conversion.

On the night, Blake Rodehaver had 75-yards rushing and 67-yards passing.

Chandler Harmon rushed for 65-yards and Conner Allen 47-yards.

On the defensive side for South Fulton, Dallas Whitehead and Dane Cirkles each had six tackles, with Will Clapper adding five.

The Jr. Red Devils will remain at home on Thursday night, when they host Ballard County starting at 6:30.
