Benches and bricks to be sold by Parks, Rec Board

South Fulton Parks Director David McDaniel reported to Parks and Recreation Board members Felicia Lightner, Harry Hutcherson, Anita Oliver and Myra Bass, during regular board session Oct. 2, that he had received a favorable response thus far in the effort to sell engraved bricks to be used in an area of Unity Park.

The cost of the benches will be $300, he said, and the bricks are $40 each, or three for $100. All funds generated will go back into the Parks and Rec funds for community events.

The board agreed to request those in attendance for the Trunk or Treat to bring canned goods to be donated to local food banks.

McDaniel said he plans to contact South Fulton High School and Fulton High School about the possibility of students there assisting with the event, for required community service hours.

He said he had already purchased seasonal decorations for the park, which could also be used for the Trunk or Treat, and he planned to once again sponsor a light pole decorating contest, open to the public, with a $25 entry fee and cash prizes awarded.

Board members Billy Williams and Eddie Cassetty were absent from the meeting.
