Clinton's court house square reopened following gas leak, evacuation

December 19, 2018

According to Clinton Police Chief Ben Natividad, the gas leak detected at approximately 2:45 p.m. today has been repaired, by just after 3 p.m., with the area now reopened.

Earlier in the day, an employee of Thompson Gas Company stopped a motorist from driving through the area of Clinton's Hickman County Court Square and business district, stating there was "a bad gas leak."

Reportedly those working in and around the area were seen running from the location and a cloud was detected behind and adjacent to the location of the gas company.

Emergency personnel waited until the area "aired out", once it was determined the leak was repaired, before reopening it to the public.
