Assault charges pending

Three charges of Aggravated Assault, a felony offense, as well as a charge of Vandalism are pending from the South Fulton Police Department, with an investigation still ongoing by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, following an incident which occurred on Parker Road in South Fulton, the night of June 17, involving 32-year-old Levi Clapper.

Clapper, 32, remains in stable condition after being airlifted to a Nashville, Tenn. medical facility, according to South Fulton Police Chief Mitchell Maynard.

Between 9-9:30 p.m. on that Friday night, Levi Clapper, who had been staying at a residence in Weakley County, arrived in his truck at the residence of Donnie and Kim Clapper on Parker Road. Donnie Clapper is the father of Levi Clapper.

Donnie Clapper was outside his residence at the time Levi Clapper arrived.

According to the SFPD report, Levi Clapper proceeded to drive his vehicle toward Donnie Clapper, causing Donnie Clapper to jump out of the way of the oncoming truck. Levi Clapper also rammed more than one vehicle at the residence, one of which had two people inside, and then rammed his vehicle into the Clapper home.

At some point, Donnie Clapper managed to pull the keys from Levi Clapper’s ignition, bringing the vehicle to a stop.

According to Chief Maynard, South Fulton Police Department officers were first on the scene, and it was at that time, officers discovered Levi Clapper appeared to have a gunshot wound or wounds to the area of his abdomen.

Weakley County Sheriff’s officers, as well as Fulton Police Department officers, Ken-Tenn EMS and South Fulton Fire Department personnel were at the scene, with Chief Maynard reporting after blocking off the area, a search was made, and no evidence of shots having been fired at the Clapper home was indicated.

“No shots were fired at the Clapper’s home,” Chief Maynard said, adding no injuries were sustained by those at the scene
