AREA OBITUARIES -- TOM POWELL

Mr. Thomas "Tom" Powell, age 71, of Cape Coral, FL and formerly

of South Fulton, TN passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at his

residence.

He was born on March 24, 1952 in Fulton, KY to the late

Walton Flynn Powell and Sara Mae Evans Powell.

Tom was a member of the Fulton First Baptist Church where he

was active in numerous events. He retired after 38 years from the

former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, TN

as a tire builder. Tom was also a former manager at Pizza Hut and

Dominos in Fulton, he was an avid fisherman and was an avid

New England Patriots fan. Tom also coached softball and baseball

for TCY.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie McGuire Powell, whom he

married July 9, 1978 in Fulton, KY, his children: John Michael

(Carrie) Roach of Paducah, KY, Patrick Brandon (Kara) Powell

of Cape Coral, FL, Brandy Nicole Whitehead of Ankeny, IA and

Brittany Rene' (Jeff) Pereira of Deland, FL, His grandchildren: Alex

Roach, Sebastian Roach, Gretchen Roach, Jillian Roach, Brinkley

Roach, Tristen Powell, Vayda Powell, Spencer Whitehead, Silas

Whitehead, Blaire Whitehead, Rosalina Emma Pereira, three

great-grandchildren: Claire Roach, Kairi Roach and Violet Mae

Powell, three brothers: Walter William Powell of Louisville, KY,

John Charles Powell of Paducah, KY and Robert "Bobby" Flynn

Powell of Ormond Beach, FL.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother,

James "Jimmy" Richard Powell.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the

Fulton First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Greenlea Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-8PM Friday, July 28. Mr. Powell

will lie in state at the Fulton First Baptist Church from 11 AM Saturday, July 29 until

the hour of service.
